Such error talks that it is better to do binary version for linux (also as exe for win32). Every version of Python (2.3, 2.4, 2.5) writes down the number in a pyo file. README will not help here. On a site after reference it is also indicated what additional packages a pyo version will work with. But the idea of README is indeed excellent and in a next version necessarily will be realized.
