git-cola is vary nice
Git-cola is very well-behaved, much more useful (or at least easy-to-use) than git-gui.
I'm quite disappointed that Opensuse doesn't have a package for it, but it runs from the source quite well (so far).
If you need to use git but are no command-line wizzzrd, take a look at cola.
I also love/respect the fact that it is wholly cross-platform, avail for Linux, Mac, and Windows.
